Hi there oldschoolers!

Any Linux user played this game yet? If so, how is the port? Is it Wine wrapper or a native client?

Thanks in advance :)

It's all native :) I haven't had the chance to try AI War yet as I have been playing Bionic Dues and The Last Federation :)
Yeah, I'm not sure how to answer.

I've only been playing AI War GOG ver on Linux, and I like it.

I haven't encountered any issues. (But I never played the Windows ver)
Same here. I have only played the Linux version so far, but it runs without a hitch on my Arch Linux Laptop (using the Graphics Chip of the i3-330M processor).

One caveat though: I have only played the Tutorial campaign so far. A real campaign with more planets might result in a different experience due to more workload, but I can't tell for sure. The fact that my fan keeps spinning rather silently for now makes me hopeful, though.
AI War uses Unity, so the Linux version would be as native as any other Unity game.
Fan-tastic! Time for a purchase then :)
The selection box bug is present in Linux.
I found that other GOG Linux games install neater/easier in multi-user Linux.

That is:
I prefer to install from admin, then run Games/Programs from User.
However to get this to install & run in Ubuntu 16.04; I have to Super User everything.
It might be possible to chmod +ax each of the files which are called from launch, but still:

The icon appears on desktop as a big "X"
when attempting to run from admin or user, access to the sub-routines is limited. Thus installing and running as super user is not recommended, but the best option for me.

Not sure I'll keep the program on Linux.
