Gammix: EDIT #2:
Fixed it. I case anyone else has the same problem, here's what was going on:
I had tried to make the file myself. Even though I made sure that there was no .txt in the file name and instead it ended in .game, my computer was still reading it as a text file instead of a game file. I deleted it, downloaded the patch from the link and it worked fine. I hope this is useful info for someone.
This is due to the default behavior of Windows which is to not show known extensions of files.
To be able to change the extention of your file, you have to change the settings of Windows Explorer.
Otherwise you will have a file named "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game.txt" with ".txt" not shown by Windows.

With Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), you have to use the dialog box of the Directory options (Tools menu), select the Display tab and uncheck the "Hide extensions of files which type is known" option (I don't known the exact sentence used by english version of Windows).

With this setting, Explorer will show you the entire name of your file and you will be able to rename your new empty text file to "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game" (without quotes).

redcat22: and I seem to be having a little trouble opening the huniepop file.
avatar
catpower1980: You don't have to open the file, it just has to be present in the game folder.

Technically, when the game launches it has a logic to determin if it will be censored/uncensored. It would be like this:

Game starts => Is "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game" in game root folder? => if false then censored/if true then uncensored
Thanks for posting. The real problem was that I couldn't find the huniepop program file. I finely found it and placed the patch in it, but don't know if its working. I haven't been in the game for a few days so hopefully i'll find out soon.

There's an easy way to check. Look in the lower left corner when you boot up.
If you add the uncensor 'patch', even if you delete it later the game does not go back to being censored/default.

WebJunkie: What legal reasons? So GOG is OK to sell VIOLENT games where you can KILL people but it's not OK to show NUDITY?
avatar
F4LL0UT: In case it hasn't occurred to you, in many countries, particularly the US, nudity is very problematic, especially full frontal and the depiction of genitals, far more than violence. European countries are far more tolerant in this respect but still have a problem with genitals shown in a sexual context which can result in those products being considered pornographic which results in all sorts of limitations on the distribution.

avatar
WebJunkie: Oh wait, Lula isn't censored so what possible legal reasons didn't apply to that one?
avatar
F4LL0UT: Because you don't see genitals there (nor semen, I believe). You see both in the uncensored version of HuniePop. Lula is a game ABOUT pornography but not pornography itself. The uncensored version of HuniePop is cartoon pornography.
Depicting nudity is not illegal in the US.

The main issue is not whether it is legal or not, but rather what kind of regulations have to be followed for certain types of content. Making sure you adhere to more guidelines and/or laws will generally cost more money. Also, corporate image plays a fairly large role.

What WingedKagouti said. Generally speaking it is not illegal but certain guidelines need to be followed. It sure as hell wasn't the porn distributors themselves who decided to have age verification on their websites. And some of these requirements may be unacceptable or at least problematic to GOG.

You are incorrect. There are no "guidelines". Who would be making up these supposed "guidelines"? There is the ESRB rating system, which is completely voluntary in the US, that is it. You are just making things up.

Dude, already back in the 90's you had stuff like the Communications Decency Act or the Child Online Protection Act. The US government has attempted tons of times to force restrictions of content not suitable for minors on service providers on the web. Games are well beyond just the scope of the ESRB once pornography is involved.

Again, you are wrong, there is no legal restriction on selling games with legal pornographic material, although if you are saying Huniepop is pornography you are really stretching it. It is super hilarious that you linked to two laws that were struck down by the courts.

If you want to prove me wrong show me the exact law that makes it illegal. You are looking kind of foolish right now, insisting you were right when you know you just pulled that out of your butt. You can buy hentai games right now from other sellers.

In your zeal to score a vacuous technical point it might have slipped your notice that F4LL0UT actually did not claim any such thing; you used the specific illegality language. It is of course up to you to continue bashing your straw man, but you look a little disingenuous insinuating that there is no controversy surrounding nudity in games, when there are moves to resolutions, ratings or smear campaigns occurring with exasperating regularity.
I feel for GOG here. I know there would probably be multiple issues with selling the uncensored version directly, like the legal need to implement an age verification system and possible BS targeted stories from the media. I blame our hypocritical society.

Still, I cannot tolerate censorship, and the industry will never seriously make any effort to fight it if people don't mind buying the censored versions. Sooner or later, it will have to say "Look, it makes no sense to have such harsh standards for movies and games that show people having sex, especially when there are tons of movies and games that show a person *graphically murdering* another."

Had this been the uncensored version, I would happily have thrown 5 bucks at this game (it's on sale at the time of this writing) just to reward GOG for contributing to the fight against censorship, even considering that I already bought the uncensored version directly from the developer.

As it is, I'll just wait until humanity gets out of the dark ages.

There is no reason in censoring HuniePop.
-GOG comes from europe, nudity and sex is ok but violance and nazis are bad
-GOG sells LEISURE SUIT LARRY: MAGNA CUM LAUDE games wich depicts nudity (http://www.gog.com/game/leisure_suit_larry_magna_cum_laude_uncut_and_uncensored)
-GOG sells LEISURE SUIT LARRY which is ESRB AO
-GOG claims to be censore free

All in all GOG simply is inconsistent and lies to us.
Also same goes for Fallout 1+2 which are european versions, you cant kill kids unlike the US version (killing kids is a story element, you get tracked down by a headhunter if you kill them).

Great, so then go buy your games somewhere else and please leave us alone. Some of us like it here.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: If and when uncensored, it is going to be an instabuy for me.

Ol' Bradley doesn't like restrictions on art; or freedom!
Just bought from the Humble store (discounted), and it seems to be uncensored out of the box. Need to actually play to confirm, but yay for Humble! Also, no pesky installers.

EDIT:
Or maybe not? the patching seems to be persistent (in config dir perhaps?), since I had the Steam version say "Uncensored" even with out the file.
