I have played JJ2 in my childhood and my nostalgic memory says that shooting in a 45° angle was possible. However I could not get this to work in the Gog version. I shoot either horizontally or vertically, even when pressing both [Up] and [Right] buttons...

Is my memory wrong or is there a way that I don't see?

Perhaps you are thinking of the GameBoy Advance Jazz game? That supported 45° shooting.
