I've just started a new character, an Embermage and I've gotten as far as Plunder Cove. My character is down at the bottom of the map after a fight, between a pit and some rocks and I can't get him to move away. I can make him turn, or cast Mana Spear, but he won't move out of that position. I've quit to the main screen and resumed and even quit the game and restarted completely, but it doesn't help. I don't want to abandon this character so soon but don't know what else to do. Suggestions?

Progress report:

I've located a page that gives suggestions on getting unstuck: https://support.arcgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017719853-How-to-resolve-stuck-character-issues-in-Torchlight-II One of them is to use a Waypoint scroll to go back to town and come in again, but alas, that doesn't work here. Another is to edit the games settings.txt, to allow you to use the in-game console and use it to Ascend one level, but in Linux, that file isn't in ASCII, and using an editor that shows more than blanks for non-ASCII doesn't show me what I need. Any other ideas?

I finally found an answer: I exited to the main screen, resumed playing but made it a LAN game instead of a single player game. I started a new LAN game, and that made my character appear back in town. I then exited and started it back up in single-player mode and continued. I hope that anybody having a similar problem finds these two posts useful.

Thank you for posting a solution. I've had this happen in the past and ended up abandoning the character so this is handy to know. Thanks.
