Did anyone enjoy or play Tropico 2 pirate cove?
I only played tropico 1 with add-on and really enjoyed playing it. So in Tropico 1 i once managed to be presidente for 170 years i think but that was long ago at least i was presidente for longer than the normal expected life in humans on a random map.
Anyway i never really got into Tropico 2 even though i have it, maybe because i never played long enough or i didn’t like the sudden change to pirate theme and didn’t learn most of it’s mechanics.
Still need to try Tropico 3 and 4.

Just tell me how you liked Tropico 2 and how was your experience with it.

Also does it have endless mode where you can continue playing after reaching objective?

Fonzer, I can't say if it has endless mode or not, but I can recommend the game regardless. It was good enough for me to log into a forum like this for the first time ever...I think. Found your question when considering restarting it now, but wanted to determine of I needed to adjust my settings for Win 10. Wish me luck, and I hope you give it a shot.

I actually did play it a few days ago and figured out the mechanics. It even has a campaign so i am interested and it's actually good for what i played little. Also am on win 10 needed to set it to compability mode win xp and change it to software mode so it didn't lag when moving around the map.
I like it a lot. It has not the same charm or depth as the original game, and the resource management can be fiddly sometimes. For example, it's impossible to set to which dock you want you weapons to be delivered to, meaning that if you have more than one one might get all the supplies while the other ones get none. But I still enjoy it for what it is. I'd say it's worth a few hours of fun.
Tropico 2 is shorter game with tutorial and campaign. People will walk strictly on roads, which are free to build. Difficulty is supposed to be watching for prisoners, which cost labor and wood and sustaining pirate's needs, which cost money to hire labor and train ship's crew. If former is failed then punishment convoy might find your island (expensive to fight back, needs several forts), if later... well I never knew, it never happened, pirates are always fine. There are exploit: pass several edicts, even all of them at once. Cumulative effect will be yellow grade for fear at every part of the island without any fear buildings, therefore prisoners never flee, and moderate conditions for pirates to live even at the highest difficulty level. Repeat every level from start.

EDIT: also fairest shair is 50% to captain, 30% to several officers. That's just to unfair and poor folks will never have enough money, while rich will not spend all their wealth on finest entertainment, hogging cheapest taverns and girls... Also there are limit on number of available space for housing. Each pirate need summer house to hide wealth. It is biggest occupant of the land and traveling takes so much time.

Hint: speed is everything, you better refrain from big ships until needed for land missions and buils several cheap and easy to refill fastest ships, which will depart much more often.

Tis game is poorly though of. Tavern is rarely visited due to being accounted as grub&grob site (0% quality grub in logbook), but services solely grog. Proper ranks (5 in 5-7 range) gave bad reviews after being serviced 95% quality grob and never visit again, therefore biggest grog sastisfaction on the whole is about 65% from inn due to bonuses from staff's skills and customers being English.
Not a smart system with dedicated haulers. Tropico 1 was much better and effective with distributed haulers, which delivered right amount just in time no matter amount of buildings. In the second game hauler spends half a year to get to rum distillery filled to the brim with rum, takes only 13 bottles, gets home. And without commodities your highest rating buildings are not better than starting.
Kitchens siphons all of the corn, sitting with 120 portions of slob. Can't destroy, otherwise limited slots prevent prisoners from eating (even 1 per 28 too low, almost fine for satisfaction and too much for the corn farms). 120 cannons sitting in foundry, yet dock haulers stock only 13 cannons and wait. Big ship is built, hauler always goes for the sea rations, which could wait (it's cheaper on black market plus I can accept shorter voyage, but can't choose Pound Them with less than half of cannons). And don't even dare building trading dock, othewise you will be waiting for manufacturing, not for hauling.
Don't build courtisan houses, they takes all of the cigars from the island and pirates won't even visit them. In game hidded feature called Efficacy is calculated from being in range of rank, staff's skill, commodoties. Let me tell you cheapest wench have biggest efficacy. All of your finest french aestetes will only visit cheapest girls for ever. You can see in logbook exact amount of visits and trailing efficacy of building. How can girl from range 2-4 have 82% - higher than courtisan with commodities and skill 5 is beyond me.
Gambling have highest satisfaction of 63%. Nothing to said, yet satisfaction actually rises to 85+, even though not all of pirates are English. 2 opposite edicts allowed at once - cheat in or against favour in gambling sites. Does nothing except + or - 5% gambling satisfaction, no additional profit from description.
No random walkers from Tropico 1. Edicts pirate patrols and other are just aura effect modifiers, which you should always proclaim. Order is very hard to get, while anarchy always green in pirate disctrict. Fear is usually comes along, many buildings give it.
Building several same manufactures is bad. Either 1 supplier, several consumer or vice versa. Manufacture always near raw supplier. Tretiary manufactures can be far away like cannons away from steel or entertainment away from beer/rum/cigars. Two breweries brings diminishing results, due to dumbness of haulers.

Missions with requirement of +60% satisfaction are unplayable without edicting fistivals, which top out 4 desires to green level. For player building effective island like in Tropico1, which don't want to edict tax cut or mardi gras this is disappointment.

I understand it was made by different company, but it's just bad game with good music under famous franchise.
Those expensive buildings, while not frequented by the pirates, are apperently used by the rich hostages

They [wealthy prisoners] pay the same amount as your pirate when they use your buildings.
Just not paying immediately.

The thing is ,
unlike pirates ,they have unlimited amount of money to spend.
So I set all of my high-end building like Inn and Casino to " Gouge them ".
Having a lot of wealthy captives on your island is a good thing if you know to control your pirate population.
