As per title. Let's say you're in colonial age and have already researched all technology available to be researched by normal means (library). If you pick free technology as a mission reward, will you get next-era technology or what will happen?

Edit: Probably resolved my own question — you get nothing. So it's worth remembering that you've completed the available tree.

Tasks that do get carried over into the next era are only taking up slots for the new tasks.
