So i bought the 5 complete collection, love the game even though some people claim its worse than 4.

after i downloaded it last night AND played, i went to go get pizza, turned my laptop back on and launched the game and it froze up on the blue kalypso intro screen. i had to alt +f4. i tried to launch again same thing, rebooted same thing.
Then did a gog galaxy verify / repair ... same freeze. Tried to skip the video by pushing esc, still freezes

So i raged a little. uninstalled the game. downloaded it again, reinstalled ... bam .. game works fine and played for hours.
NEXT DAY.... i launched the game again ... and guess what .. freezes again on launch during kalypso video.

any ideas? if its a problem that can be replicated it must be something specific.
THAKS in advance
Hello,

One quick question. Do you happen to keep your computer offline/not connected to internet?

computer is online, im thinking its possibly a video decoder issue... it takes like 5-6 launches but if i push escape key and enter a few times.. i can get past it. Then i can play the game perfectly fine. and i loveeee it, even though rebels are annoying

Hello

It is not the problem I was thinking of then. I keep my game computer offline, so several games will hang after launch because of windows game explorer crap.

The videos are "IVF" file that contain "VP8" encoded video. They are located in the "movies" subfolder of tropico 5. If you rename the files Haemimont.ivf, Haemimont.opus, Kalypso.ivf, and Kalypso.opus; when you lauch the game it come up to a black screen because it can not find the files. Then you can just press "ESC" key a couple times to bring up the menu.

If you can see the menu screen without problem, I don't think you have a video decoder issue. The background of the menu screen with the hang glider is actualy a video file called title.ivf.

interesting, the glider video works fine i watch it loop just for the music sometimes haha. perhaps its a loading issue then... i tried to see if there was a cache to clear or anything but it doesnt seem anything gets modified in my entire tropico folder after a launch.

hitting escape and enter repeatedly seems to work 20% of the time ... the rest i have to alt +f4 and try again .

at least i still get to play sometimes
Hello

I made some 1 second white screen videos and 1 second silent audio files to go with them.

Backup your Haemimont.ivf, Haemimont.opus, Kalypso.ivf, and Kalypso.opus files in the Tropico5/movies folder and drop these replacements in.

With these files in place I am at the menu screen in 2 seconds with no key presses.
