Staredown: Okay. I've experienced what certainly sounds like your bug and this is how I dealt with it. First, this is not a GoG problem, the exact same thing happened with my Humble Bundle version and seems to be entirely due to the newest update asking for more networking permissions and Window Firewall throwing a hissy fit over it. You need to add a new exception to Windows Firewall, plus possibly whatever other firewall programs you are using.
I hope that gets you through this.
I don't use Windows FW, but I told my firewall to not allow the game to go online since I just wanted to play singleplayer. Is this a problem only with the Windows Firewall?
