Is there going to be updates to this from GOG or is it just auto-patching?

Mostly the game will have autopatching from Arcen due to the fact that they are proliferate with their updates :) (which is a good thing )

So does the game automatically update? Or will one have to register for something at Arcen Games' website?

The game will notify you that there is an update and you just press a button on the main menu and let it do its thing :) No registration required :)

That's good!
Need stand alone patch .

Want to play game with latest patch on computer without internet connection. :(

Then you are most likely out of luck. It's really not reasonable to expect GoG to archive all the updates at the rate Arcen pumps them out. Four a week is a slow week for them. One or two a day is more representative.

Hey Boss.

I got an update when I installed the game an hour or so ago which went smooth, but now I'm getting an update notification from you guys. Looks to me like it might be more bonus content but I wanted to check with you. :D

The prototype version of AI War and the early public version have been added to the bonus content :) No installer updates were made :)
(In reply to Edward_Carnby)

Some form of cumulative update (weekly? monthly?) would be a good idea however. But I'm not sure how easy it would be to make Arcen's update philosophy play with GoG's wrapper. Could be cake and eating it to, could be nigh on to impossible. I have no idea.

The updates are mostly betas so I believe the official patches should be good enough for a while.
Official patches are not released that often and are usually more stable so installing every update is not that
crucial.

As of now (not installed yet) I think this is the 8.0 official version.

Check the Arcen forums. There aren't that many people that need this, but Arcen has offered zip file updates for such folks. They're very good about trying to meet the reasonable demands of their customers.

This is a "living game," in that it is under continual development. It's had 60 updates in the last year or so. I suggest not going nuts trying to get the latest update manually. Just relax and let the game update itself online when you can, or otherwise just wait for more major updates to grab those zip files.
I also request that updates be available every once in a while as a GoG official patch file. It doesn't need to be very often, even one per year is fine by me.
